My Avatar and Me is a film by Bente Milton that was shown a couple of weeks ago on Danish television for the first time. The film was already famous with Second Life users.

While I was watching it on the island's cinema on Transition Time via avatar, I really had the impression that real life and Second Life blurred.

There I was as an avatar watching real people in the real world. The change of perspective was a great experience because I could immerse deeper in the Hero's life. The hero is a normal man who comes across Second Life when not much is happening in real life.

The man is curious, starts looking for social interaction and goes through all typical problems and situations that a newbie can find in the new world when confronted with other avatars and places.

When he is about to give up he meets an avatar, she opens the bright side of Second Life to him. He starts connecting with interesting people, visiting amazing places, exchanging ideas, earning money etc.

Unfortunately all the success and friends he starts making in his new life take too much of his time and so he gets into trouble in real life.

It doesn't take long before all his Second Life success disappears, but fortunately one or two friends form Second Life are there in real life to help him overcome the crisis.

My opinion: A new film genre blending modern technology, psychology and literature in a unique way.
