Spanish with Eugenia I went to a talk about how a teacher got into SL and how she teaches Spanish there. The speaker this time was a charming Mexican lady who has been teaching Spanish in Second Life since 2008. Eugenia has now a new plot in the Chilbo community. There she explained how her classes take place and showed us her different classrooms. She presented the tools she uses in order to teach Spanish to her students. The first thing we learned was that SL became a new means of earning money during an economic crisis, which is a very important fact.

Inspiration Island. This talk was special as it took place completely in Second Life. The images and experiences were surreal even for people who are not new to SL.The talk started in an open conference space at Inspiration Island with a virtual presentation board, which beats any screen sharing where people can only see faces and sometimes only black squares. Amongst the avatars assisting to the talks I discovered famous people in SL, like Gentle Heron. Our group of moocers was given a tour by Lissena/ Lynne Berret, the founder of The Ageless Mind Program and Creative Elders, her projects are focused on helping people have a healthy and fulfilling life through programs and activities in online environments. Lynne has a solid background on Positive- Psychology based Life Coaching among others.

The learning potential of gamification
This article will provide an overview of the learning potential of virtual environments. Given how much of their free time young people spend on computer games, why not include students’ knowledge and experiences with game universes in teaching? This would mesh well with the long tradition in Danish primary schools of including "real life" in our teaching.

My Avatar and Me is a film by Bente Milton that was shown a couple of weeks ago on Danish television for the first time. The film was already famous with Second Life users.
While I was watching it on the island's cinema on Transition Time via avatar, I really had the impression that real life and Second Life blurred.
There I was as an avatar watching real people in the real world. The change of perspective was a great experience because I could immerse deeper in the Hero's life. The hero is a normal man who comes across Second Life when not much is happening in real life.

After spending a few weeks following activities in Transition Time I started the new year with a virtual walk round the island. It was night, cold and dark in real life, so I set the time of the day to midday and didn't need a coat because it is always summer in Transition Time. The walk started in the café, from there I went to the beach and round to the old buildings where the Folk High School is located. The buildings are going to be removed in the near future and a modern school is going to replace the old one.

This time I am going to introduce a very interesting project called "Transition Time" This article is the first of a series I have planned for the next few months. Transition Time is a bold and exciting new arena for collective storytelling and collaboration in Second Life created in Denmark. Transition Time was created to combine different perspectives and ways of life in order to enrich our approach to the challenges we face nowadays. They want to help create a more caring, connected sustainable world.
